Over the summer Team Bellevue was given the opportunity to join children and their families from the Sunshine Kids for a Mariner’s game. We jumped at the chance. These children and their families are so awe inspiring that most of us couldn’t pull our eyes from them to watch Felix shut out the Twins in a 6-1 win.
Many of us are parents and the thoughts race through your mind… how can that handle such a heavy situation and still enjoy this time so much? One of the answers is actually the Sunshine Kids.
This organization is a non-profit organization dedicated to children with cancer. Established in 1982, and are committed to providing positive group activities and emotional support for young cancer patients. The Sunshine Kids provides a variety of programs and events, free of charge, for kids who are receiving cancer treatments in hospitals across North America.
It’s awesome. From one leisurely night at a baseball game I was reminded how precious time with family can be. I raced home to be with my child and I’ve since cuddled him a little tighter every day since.
The struggle of cancer has affected so many lives. When it tries to take down a child it’s critical to keep that child’s life as normal and enjoyable as possible and that is what The Sunshine Kids do. They help keep it light and fun in a time when it seems impossible.
We commend them. We support them. Team Bellevue is committed to supporting this group for as long as they’ll support the children and each agent is encouraged to donate a portion of their earnings from every single transaction to the Sunshine Kids. Berkshire Hathaway has remained one of The Sunshine Kids top 10 donors for 7 out of the last 10 years, with Team Bellevue contributing thousands so far this year.
